**Technical Writing-Process Documentation Internship**
Colorado Springs Utilities is seeking a Technical Writing-Process Documentation Intern to work within our Human Resources Information Systems Team. This role will provide insight to the inner workings of the high performing HRIS team and offering a unique opportunity for a college student to learn about the HR-tech component of the industry. The learning experiences acquired while working with the team after Phase 1 of the Infor implementation and, potentially, while gearing up for Phase 2, will offer the student a unique experience of technical writing and professional process documentation.
A Technical Writing / Process Documentation Internship offers the following learning opportunities:
+ Training and hands-on experience in process document creation and organization
+ Exposure to application administration and Human Resources technology implementation
+ Producing high-quality deliverables with visibility to end users and management
+ Based on the individual’s aptitude and enthusiasm, additional exposure to support other specialist teams within the Human Resources Department
In this position, the Intern will primarily focus on creating process documents for various tasks that are completed within Infor CloudSuite. The organization has recently upgraded the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and the Super User team, with limited bandwidth, needs to document the new processes to reduce the risk for loss of knowledge.
The Intern will observe and work alongside the team to compile images and instructions for task processes, resulting in the production of reference guides, tools, how-to documents, etc. for future onboarding and training within the team. The Intern will learn to work with administrators, technicians, analysts, and specialists, using interpersonal communication and critical thinking skills to intake various scenarios. An exceptional outcome will also include an outline of lifecycle management and maintenance of the tools.
**Key Focus Areas:**
+ _Process Documentation / Technical Writing - 80%_ -Support staff members with providing and updating documentation for work task processes, within Infor CloudSuite
+ _Template Creation and Distribution - 15%_ - Support the success of staff by developing coordinating templates for process documents to be created in future process changes
+ _Assimilation and Engagement - 5%_ - Support adjacent HR teams as skills, interest, and opportunities arise
**Who You Are…** the ideal candidate will be working towards a degree in Technical Writing, English, Business Administration with a focus in technical documentation, technical writing, proposal writing, etc. Additionally, those with thorough understanding of process documentation and high quality deliverables will stand out.
**_*This position is full-time hours, 40/week, from May 27th-August 15th and part-time hours, approximately 20 hours per week, during the school year. The position can be flexible to support a student’s school schedule._**
**_*This is an on-site, non-remote/non-telecommuting position_**
**_*Hourly rate is dependent on year completed of academic degree, e.g., second year complete, third year complete, etc._**
