Reporting to: Supervisor, Maintenance

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the general mechanical installation, maintenance, and repair of assets at the Nutrien, Lima Nitrogen site. These tasks must be done in a safe, timely, and efficient manner. 

 

What you will do:

Model Nutrien’s core values of safety and integrity. Lead and enable an inclusive culture in which you and your team are actively contributing to a safe work environment by utilizing Nutrien’s culture of care. Lead and participate in safety meetings and Job Hazard Analysis; work safely in an industrial environment following site policies and procedures Lead troubleshooting, repair, overhaul, and installation of process equipment and systems, ensuring work is performed in compliance with regulations and requirements per company standards and practices Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on industrial equipment in a production environment, including single and multi-stage pumps, steam turbines, compressors, rotary conveying systems, and various plant equipment Read and interpret mechanical drawings and diagrams, P&IDs, schematics, OEM and Maintenance procedures while maintaining equipment history and documentation. Provide technical leadership required to support overall reliability of site systems and assets during regular and outage maintenance timeframes. Coordinate activities with maintenance Supervisors, Planners/Schedulers, and other site Technicians as required to execute work safely and efficiently. Work closely with operations, other internal departments, and contractors as needed to facilitate maintenance activities Perform prior pre-job work reviews to eliminate or mitigate hazards, and improve work coordinations to execute work safely and efficiently. Use computer systems, software, and tools to support maintenance workflow, identify equipment and materials, record failures, document repairs, and equipment history Lead and participate in equipment failure analysis and investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions Work as a productive team member and support continuous improvement Provide on call coverage and response to provide 24-7 coverage for the facility.

What you will bring:

Mechanical Technician Diploma/Certification from recognized technical program and/or Valid Journeyperson license or equivalent is required Demonstrated experience as Mechanical or Rotating Equipment Technician in industrial setting Knowledge of associated technology, equipment, including ASME and API Codes/Standards Positive safety behavior and a safety mindset, with high initiative and willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges Self-Guided, and ability to work safely and effectively in a labor-intensive team environment Effective communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills Ability to interact positively with co-workers and supervisors Technically detailed with willingness to learn and gain required knowledge and experience through training Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities Adaptability, flexibility, and open to change in a varying work environment
