SCHEDULE:  Current Schedule is 7 day work week with rotational days off. Opening is on SWING SHIFT.  Candidate must not only be able to work 1st, 2nd, 3rd shifts in the same week but also must be able to work all shifts up to 12-16 hours a day when needed. 


Opportunity summary:  The Quality Technician is a salary non-exempt position (eligible for overtime) and is responsible for performing various paper quality tests, visual inspections, cutting & prepping test samples, and entering data into the computer.  QC technician must be capable of working under minimal supervision and performing tests in a timely manner.  Exceptional communication skills are critical to ensure proper decision-making, assist in troubleshooting, and directing co-workers on finished produce disposition.  

 

Core Responsibilities and Expectations

Gather & prepare paper samples from completed reels for testingPerform a variety of quality tests utilizing various test equipment and inputting data into the mill quality systemVisually inspect board for defects and make determination of roll qualityCommunicate effectively and professionally with production staff regarding quality concerns A strong collaborating business partner among crews, shift supervisors, department managers and site leadershipAbility to understand and comprehend sense of urgency to the associate job tasksInitiate & assist with problem solving issues affecting product qualityAssist in the troubleshooting process Direct personnel on finished roll dispositionMonitor co-worker safetyAssist with job-watching during scheduled mill shutdownsFluent computer skills and ability to acclimate quickly to new systems

What you need to succeed:

 

Technical / quality background or professional certification/trainingHigh School diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of one-year related work experience. Paper & Packaging industry experience strongly preferredAble to work safely in a team environmentAvailable to work 12-hour shifts including nights, weekends and overtime
