This is a union position. Must pass the Technician Pre-employment Placement Exercises to be considered for the position.
Note: Employees who demonstrate their aptitude for the work and establish a satisfactory record during one year of employment in this position will be promoted to Technician B
ResponsibilitiesUnder direct supervision, tests, installs, repairs, calibrates and maintains electronic, electrical, and mechanical equipment such as meters, recorders, relays, telemeter systems, supervisory or automatic control systems, radio, public address and load and frequency control systems that have been previously deenergized, deactivated and removed from service. Works with and assists Technicians of higher grade, Continues to maintain active interest in this type of work and through reading and study should keep abreast of progress in electrical technology related to work.

Education, Experience and CertificationsAssociate's in Applied Science Degree in Electrical Technical Education or equivalent required.
Physical RequirementsHourly rates for union-represented employees are collectively bargained by the New York Power Authority and IBEW. The negotiated pay rate for this position is $36.82 per hour.
