Element Materials Technologies is looking to recruit a passionate Technician to perform routine and non-routine tests within our gas laboratories.
This role requires the successful candidate to conduct multiple non-metallic materials testing projects within the Environmental Testing area of the business, on behalf of numerous clients. Projects will involve research of how non-metallic materials respond when exposed to gas including Hydrogen and H2S, measured by characterisation of materials before and after exposure and during exposure.
These are very hands-on roles which involve laboratory testing of both large and small components to customer requirements. The role may include the managing of projects including writing of post-test reports.
Responsibilities Preparing of material specimens for testingOperation of mechanical testing equipment to internal test methods or industry standardsPerforming of high temperature and high-pressure testsGathering, recording and analysing of test dataPreparing reportsAt times operating under the supervision of a more senior test technician and/or a Department ManagerInteracting periodically with customersScheduling of internal calibration of equipmentConstruction and maintenance of various test fixtures and other laboratory equipment to ensure proper working order with little supervision Skills / Qualifications Engineering/ Physical Sciences Degree or equivalent industry experienceWorking knowledge of laboratory safety including ability to follow risk assessments and COSHH assessmentsCan compile and analyse testing data from the tests performedBasic understanding of testing conceptsPossess computer skills (Word, Excel etc.)Report writing skillsAbility and willingness to stand on feet for long periods of time and carry out physical tasks, including lifting Good observational skills, attention to detail and ability to work accurately and precisely
