Job Summary Perform skilled, technical work in the design, installation, testing, calibration, maintenance, and repair for assigned product or process. Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities Provides expertise related to product implementation and continued service. Provides technical solutions and design implementations for products and services. Builds, tests, troubleshoots, repairs and modifies equipment, parts, components and assemblies. Analyzes and interprets test data. Evaluates performance and reliability of materials. Performs routine analysis and calculation and recommends changes. Diagnoses and reports malfunctions. Learns and understands particular technical equipment; attends training and completes certification as required. Pressure testing & chlorination of water mains Pressure & vacuum testing of sanitary sewer mains & manholes Live taps, valve insertions & line stops Water line leak location Manhole coring 24-hr emergency service Nature and Scope Refers complex, unusual problems to supervisor. Under general supervision, exercises some judgment in accordance with well-defined policies, procedures, techniques. Work typically involves regular review of output by a senior co worker or supervisor. Work Environment Must continuously stand or walk or regularly requires lifting/handling/carrying material or equipment of moderate weight (8 - 20 pounds). Usually in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort from such things as dust, fumes or odors. Typically requires overnight travel more than 50% of the time. Education and Experience HS Diploma or GED, strongly preferred. Specialized skills training/certification may be required. Generally 2 - 5 years of experience in area of responsibility. Preferred Qualifications 2 year technical degree. 3-5 years experience. Experience with automotive and truck repair is very helpful. The ability to read & interpret documents such as operating & maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and safety rules. Willingness to work within OSHA & company safety guidelines. The successful applicant is required to hold a valid OSHA 10 card (JFC will provide training as required including OSHA 10 cert). Good verbal, written & interpersonal communication skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks and has good organizational skills. Ability to make decisions & work efficiently & effectively within specific periods. Must have a good driving record. Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Must have a good mechanical aptitude, the ability to lift 50lbs safely, the ability to learn quickly & apply that knowledge, and be willing to work in a team environment. AA/EOE High School diploma or equivalent GED along with at least 1 year of utility pipe experience. Must pass a background check as well as a pre-employment drug test. Overnight travel and weekend work may be required at times.
