Element has an opportunity for a Technician I to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team in one of the various laboratories across Element, the Technician I position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under direct supervision. The technician positions must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities Analysis of water and soilOperation of equipment like ovens, balances and centrifugesPrepare the reagents, standard solution and ensure standardisation of the solution used in the laboratoryHandling and storage all chemicals as per the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)Managing the calibration of glass wares and the instrumentsPerformance of qualitative and quantitative laboratory tests and analysis of other substances as per standard methodIssue reports and receive samples to and from the respective entitiesEnsure work compliance to ISO 17025 requirements Skills / Qualifications Have a diploma / degree in chemistry with at least 2 years experience in similar roleHave the ability to work in teams under pressure and flexible to work different working hours (night / day) shifts if required or necessaryKnowledge and experience of safe operation of testing equipment and operating it independentlyPossess the ability to work alone periodically throughout the work day with supervisionUnderstand what must be completed each work day and takes the initiative to complete those tasks properly and timely - does not need Senior/Principal Technician or management to explain what the task is.Ability to read and understand customer specifications and perform the testing requiredAble to develop a proven ability to set up and perform a variety of tests according to customer specifications under the supervision and technical input of Senior/Principal
