About the Position:

As a Technician at First Student, your day-to-day work ensures our vehicles are maintained and safe for our passengers. You’ll complete both routine and advanced repairs, handle emergency service calls, and work under moderate supervision. You may also provide mentorship to entry-level technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform maintenance and repairs on vehicles including:Brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissionsElectrical components, fluid systems, filters, belts, batteries, and hosesConduct preventive maintenance (PMs), DOT inspections, and diagnostic troubleshootingMaintain detailed service records, complete accurate work orders, and track parts usageSupport emergency roadside service calls when neededClean vehicles and maintain the shop environmentSafely move vehicles around the yard or between work areasRepair and maintain shop tools and equipmentOther duties as assigned by management

What You Bring to the Role:

Want a job that directly supports your communityHave 3+ of experience working with diesel, gas, electric, or CNG vehiclesAre comfortable using hand tools and diagnostics softwareAre a strong problem solver who thrives both independently and on a teamHave a valid driver’s license and are willing to obtain a CDL (we’ll help with training!)Have or are willing to build a personal mechanic tool setAre eager to grow your skills through ASE testing (we’ll support you every step of the way!)

Preferred Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED (preferred)Vocational or technical training in vehicle repair (preferred)Class B CDL with passenger endorsement (or ability to obtain within 3 months)ASE Certifications (preferred, with requirement to begin ASE testing within 1 year)Experience performing DOT inspections and vehicle safety assessmentsMilitary experience, prior fleet maintenance, or previous bus/large vehicle repair a plus

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

Maintenance shop environment with dust, dirt, grease, and various weather exposureMust be able to lift at least 50 lbs and work in crouched or prone positions beneath vehiclesThis is a safety-sensitive position and subject to DOT drug testing, including cannabis
