Position Summary
The Intake Technician receives, coordinates, and implements the initial Home Health, in-home Hospice and Hospice Home referrals. This position provides critical functions essential to ensuring courteous, efficient, and accurate handling of the referral process, which includes receiving the referral, receiving orders, verification of benefits, authorization to provide service, and certification and continued certification of services. Begins the identification process of services needed by the patient, and insures expeditious start of care. Initiates and facilitates the Case Management activities from a managed care perspective under the direction of the Intake Coordinator. Serves as a contact person for insurance case managers. Provides direct customer service and/or clerical/administrative support for the department as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.
