If you are a technical professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Copeland has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Sidney, OH location, you will work in conjunction with product and research engineers along with lab supervisors to design, develop, and qualify HVACR systems and components.  We are seeking a lead technician to contribute to our overall growth and continued innovation in our HVACR labs.

AS A LEAD TECHNICIAN, YOU WILL: 

Assign project tasks to refrigeration lab technicians to coordinate lean workflow and execution of business priorities/projectsCommunicate daily schedule, concerns, and updates through daily / weekly stand-up meetingsEngage with technicians and management to create a safe and clean work environment using 5S+1 techniques and current safety proceduresProvide training and onboarding of new hiresProvide performance coaching/mentoring to technicians through the annual performance and development processBe proficient in system performance and development testing.Support preventative maintenance and calibration plans to help ensure an effective & safe working environmentSupport hands-on project work

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

Associate degree or Certificate in technical discipline and three (3+) years relevant experienceExceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsDemonstrated ability to resolve complex projects into actionable tasks, create realistic timelines, and execute tasksAbility to effectively collaborate with other lab groups and product engineeringProven computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPointExceptional communication (written & verbal) skillsExperience in developing testing procedures, training documents, and creating logs of critical lab operational recordsLegal Authorization to work in the United States – Sponsorship will not be provided for this role.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:  

Associate degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, Industrial Operations, or another engineering/manufacturing-related degree and (7+) years of experienceExperience in developing testing procedures, training documents, and creating logs of critical lab operational records.Understanding of ISO/IEC 17025 compliance requirements for laboratory operations and experience in preparing laboratory for annual ISO/IEC 17025, UL and ANAB auditsIn-depth understanding of performance test lab metrics and KPIsLeadership experience with direct reportsExperience in quality; ASQ Certification preferredBasic/intermediate level of statistics, physics, and mathExcellent presentation skills

Our newly renovated Sidney campus has 1M square feet of manufacturing floor with an additional 120k square feet of leading-edge lab facilities. This location is the headquarters for our HVACR Americas business unit. Through our many years of compressor expertise, our products help bring comfort and convenience to refrigeration, commercial, industrial, and residential spaces. Approximately 1600 employees work in Sidney, who all support a multitude of business functions.
