The position

The General Operative will support civil and general site works on solar farms, ensuring tasks are      completed efficiently and safely. This role involves operating machinery, handling materials, assisting skilled workers, and maintaining a clean and safe site environment.

Accountabilities

Assist in the construction, maintenance, and repair of roads, drainage systems, and other infrastructureRemoval of vegetation and obstructions from under frameworksReplace or repair damaged fencing around site perimeterOperate construction equipment such as diggers, dumpers, and excavators under supervisionCarry out manual labor tasks including lifting, digging, and moving materialsPrepare and maintain construction sites by setting up barriers, fencing, signage, and other necessary safety equipmentEnsure all materials are handled and stored correctly, following all safety regulationsPerform general maintenance of site tools and equipmentEnsure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations on-siteAssist skilled workers such as technicians, electricians and contractorsSupport in the excavation, groundwork for ducting works etcMonitor and maintain a tidy and organized work areaReport any issues or concerns regarding equipment, safety, or work progress to the site supervisorFollow project plans and timelines, contributing to timely project delivery

Knowledge

Basic knowledge of construction processes, tools, and equipment

Skills

Understanding of site safety regulations and willingness to adhere to safety protocolsWillingness to work in varying weather conditionsFull UK driving licenseAbility to work well as part of a team

Experience

Previous experience in a general operative or labouring role, ideally within the civil engineering industry

Qualifications

CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card (preferred but not mandatory)
