Technician Specialist

Position Overview
At Advanced Sterilization Products, we're seeking a motivated and skilled Technician Specialist to join our team. In this critical role, you'll support and maintain advanced production equipment and automation systems for manufacturing life-saving medical devices. This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology, contributing to the seamless operation and optimization of processes such as mixing, dispensing, and packaging biochemical components.

 

Primary Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, maintain, and upgrade manufacturing equipment, including automated assembly, liquid dispensing, labeling, and welding systems. Perform preventive maintenance and ensure timely documentation of activities. Research and procure parts and components to maximize equipment efficiency. Assist with engineering validations, verifications, and test protocols. Manage the manufacturing engineering lab and maintain spare parts inventory. Create and update manufacturing documentation via Change Orders. Provide technical expertise for equipment failure analysis and process improvements utilizing methodologies like Lean/Six Sigma, DFM, and SPC. Address technical challenges in daily manufacturing operations and recommend innovative solutions. Support technology transfers to external or international facilities as needed. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as GMP and ISO 13485. Perform additional duties, including occasional after-hours and weekend support, as required.  

Qualifications

Education

Associate degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (preferred) or equivalent experience.

Experience

Minimum 3 years of experience troubleshooting and maintaining automated equipment. At least 5 years in a manufacturing environment (medical device experience preferred). Expertise in robotics, semi-/fully automated systems, and HMIs is highly desirable.

Skills and Knowledge

Advanced troubleshooting skills for electro-mechanical systems. Proficiency in pneumatics, fluid power, electrical and mechanical hardware, and schematics. Familiarity with PLCs, I/Os, vision systems, servo motors, and robotics. Skilled in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and Microsoft applications. Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration across teams. Knowledge of ISO 13485, GMP, and FDA-regulated environments (preferred).

Preferred Skills

Experience with process and equipment validation in a regulated industry. Familiarity with controlled environments and gowning protocols.  

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Standing: Up to 60% Sitting: Up to 90% Walking: 10-20% Requires compliance with controlled environment protocols, including gowning.

This role primarily focuses on 1st and 2nd shift work, with opportunities to showcase flexibility through occasional after-hours or weekend support as needed.
