The Food Safety Technologist is a key member of the site's food safety management team, responsible for maintaining and supporting the food safety program at the Barry Callebaut Chatham facility in Ontario, Canada. This role involves overseeing daily food safety tasks, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, and effectively communicating with all levels of personnel. The Technologist must be able to manage multiple activities and urgent requests professionally while demonstrating a strong commitment to food and employee safety. Key responsibilities include: • Coordinate the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the food safety system and culture. • Investigate gaps in food safety programs, initiate corrective actions, and follow up on CAPA status. • Support FSMS implementation in collaboration with QA, operations, planning, warehouse, and external stakeholders. • Organize and assist in employee and contractor training programs (GMP, HACCP, Allergen, CCP, etc.). • Conduct CCP/OPRP verification & validation and support operations in investigating findings and deviations. • Participate in GMP and internal audits, ensuring CAPAs are implemented as needed. • Implement and maintain compliance with GFSI (FSSC) and third-party certifications (Kosher-Parve, Bonsucro, RSPO, UTZ). • Monitor HACCP, SOPs, allergens, and label control, including document verification and sign-off. • Oversee production activities to ensure compliance with GMP, PRPs, OPRPs, CPs, and CCPs. • Manage validation records for tools and equipment cleaning. • Coordinate Foreign Body Tool Box, Dairy-Free Swab monitoring, and change-over flush programs. • Act as a backup for the Food Safety Supervisor and perform additional tasks as assigned by the Food Safety Supervisor & Sr. QA Manager. About you: • University graduate or College diploma in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, or related science discipline. • Minimum 1-3 years experience in managing & implementing HACCP based food safety systems in the food manufacturing industry. • International HACCP alliance accredited HACCP certified. • PCQI and internal auditor certificate will be additional assets. • SQF Practitioner and internal auditor certificate will be additional assets. • Knowledge of designing, implementing and managing GMP and HACCP Food Safety Plan in a food manufacturing industry. • Experience in GFSI (BRC/SQF/FSSC 22000), Kosher, regulatory audits are highly desirable. • Working knowledge of manufacturing data systems such as SAP, Salesforce and DMS. • High level of computer competency (SAP, Microsoft Office). • Excellent communication skills.
