SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse, the Technologist Intermediate assists the professional staff by performing a variety of paraprofessional and technical functions which contribute to the safety, care and comfort of neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients and their families.
The Technologist Intermediate provides direct and indirect patient care, including technical skills and procedures, performs routine secretarial and clerical duties and participates in maintaining the environment. Provides care in a considerate and respectful manner. The Technologist Intermediate maintains confidentiality of patient information; ensures patient privacy by providing appropriate screening and draping during procedures and care activities; refers questions from patients and families to appropriate personnel; and respects the rights of patients and families to make informed health care decisions.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
Ability to read, write, and speak English Use of patient care equipment such as but not limited to sphygmomanometer, scales, pulse oximeter, isolettes, and radiant warmer. Performs technical procedures such as but not limited to phlebotomy, EKG and bedside glucose monitoring. Use of patient care transport equipment such as but not limited to, wheelchairs and stretchers. Use of Dietary Food Delivery system. Use of unit equipment - fax, phone, communication system and maintenance equipment. Patient Care Technician/Nursing Assistant Certification 12 Lead ECG, Phlebotomy American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification High school / GED diploma required.
