Radiology Technologist

Radiology Technologists use x-ray equipment to obtain images of the body interpreted by a Radiologist and are responsible for preparing patients for the exam, moving and instructing the patient into the proper position, correctly operating the equipment, and obtaining a high-quality image while minimizing radiation dose to the patient. Radiology Technologists may go on to specialize in more specific imaging techniques such as bone densitometry, cardiovascular-interventional radiography, computer tomography, mammography, magnetic resonance imaging and nuclear medicine.  

A caregiver in this position works 10:30pm - 7:00am

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

Adjust and control complex electronic equipment in applying ionizing radiation for radiographic and fluoroscopic examinations. 

Prepare and position patients prior to procedures to ensure their safety and to obtain desired reports for diagnostic purposes. 

Calculate and select appropriate equipment and technical factors such as proper type of film and number of kilovolts or milliamperes.  

Maintain working condition of all equipment and report any malfunctions or needs for adjustments to appropriate personnel. 

Assist in maintaining sanitary condition of radiology area. 

Comply with all Radiology information system entry requirements for accurate patient, film, supply, tracking monitors. 

Assist and support the Radiologic student program, specifically the clinical aspect. 

Complete mandatory education and training to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Completion of Radiologic Technology programs from approved school. 

Registered Radiographer (R) with American Registry of Radiology Technologists. 

Current Radiology state license. 

 Basic Life Support from American Heart Association. 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist.

Physical Requirements:

Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
