Technologist Trainee
Job Title: Technologist Trainee (Entry Level- Bachelor's Degree Required) Job Description Run GCMS to analyze toxicology results and perform ELISA testing on oral fluid samples. Use specialized instruments for oral fluid testing and fluid extraction. Handle drug testing for various matrices, including urine, oral fluids, and blood, across different benches in toxicology. Review and confirm positive drug test results using GCMS. Ensure an 8am turnaround time, with the night shift primarily responsible for production. Manage 3 loads per shift (1 load = 88 samples), with fully trained technicians running up to 300 samples per shift. Collaborate with the department to handle approximately 500 samples across 2 shifts. Communicate effectively in written and verbal forms, and utilize computer skills for data entry and analysis. Maintain reliable transportation to and from the laboratory. Responsibilities + Run GCMS to analyze toxicology results. + Perform ELISA testing on oral fluid samples. + Use specialized instruments for oral fluid testing and fluid extraction. + Handle drug testing for various matrices, including urine, oral fluids, and blood, across different benches in toxicology. + Review and confirm positive drug test results using GCMS. + Ensure an 8am turnaround time, with night shift primarily responsible for production. + Manage 3 loads per shift, with fully trained technicians running up to 300 samples per shift. + Collaborate with the department to handle approximately 500 samples across 2 shifts. + Communicate effectively in written and verbal forms, and utilize computer skills for data entry and analysis. + Maintain reliable transportation to and from the laboratory. + Maintain, calibrate, and clean pipettes and, when necessary, instrumentation; troubleshoot as indicated. + Follow quality control rules; monitor controls for error detection and take corrective action; maintain laboratory records, maintenance logs, quality control charts, reagent and equipment inventories. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology. + Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage time. + Excellent research and problem resolution skills. + Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment to meet established turnaround times. + Perform work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. + Work effectively in a high-volume environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Bachelor's degree (BS preferred, BA accepted) in life science - chemistry or biology. + Wet Chemistry experience preferred. + Academic lab experience accepted. Work Environment The Days/Shift are TBD but must be flexible to work overnight and weekends. The department comprises 120 people, ensuring support and training are available on off shifts. Employees will have holidays off, including Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Shifts are to be confirmed; past shifts include Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm for the GCMS bench, and Monday to Friday, 11:30 pm to 8:00 am for the ELISA bench. The facility provides a coffee bar accessible for night shift employees and a 24-hour quick check near the lab for breaks.
