Technology Asset Manager
A technology asset manager is responsible for managing and optimizing a company's technology assets, which can include hardware for the IT ServiceDesk infrastructure. This role ensures that the organization effectively acquires, deploys, tracks, and maintains its technology resources while minimizing costs and maximizing the value of these assets over time.
Key responsibilities of a technology asset manager include:Asset procurement and deployment: Overseeing the acquisition of technology assets and ensuring they are deployed in a way that aligns with business goals.Inventory management: Utilizing ServiceNow Asset module or equivalent tools for maintaining an accurate inventory of all technology assets, including hardware (computers, servers, networking equipment) and software (licenses, subscriptions).Cost control and optimization: Identifying ways to reduce costs through better management of IT resources, such as optimizing the use of hardware, or renegotiating contracts with vendors.Lifecycle management: Managing the entire lifecycle of technology assets, from acquisition through maintenance to eventual disposal or upgrade.Risk management: Ensuring that IT assets are secure, well-maintained, and meet regulatory or compliance requirements.Vendor management: Managing relationships with technology vendors and service providers to ensure the organization gets the best value and service for its technology investments.
