In this role you will provide technology consulting to external customers and internal project teams. Responsible for providing technical support and/or leadership in the creation and delivery of technology solutions designed to meet customers’ business needs and, consequently, for understanding customers’ businesses. As trusted advisor create and maintain effective customer relationships so as to ensure customer satisfaction. Maintain knowledge of leading-edge technologies and industry/market domain knowledge. Actively contribute to the company’s solutions portfolio by providing information ranging from technical knowledge to methodologies based on experience gained from customer projects. Shape technical direction and technical strategies within the organization and for external customers. Accountable for consistent and significant chargeability levels (or expense relief for internal project teams) and for assisting in meeting or exceeding revenue and customer satisfaction goals. Contribute to organization’s profitability by generating and cultivating new business opportunities and by providing technical support for deal proposal development.

In this function, you will be a dedicated HPE Data Center Facilities Consultant. You will be supporting several end users, customers and account teams within HPE.  Your focus will be working with facility organizations to provide site preparation requirements and consulting for the integration of computing systems into designated facilities.

You will be responsible for performing a wide variety of tasks involving Data Center Facilities consulting that fall into these general categories. Pursuit and Proposal Support for facilities consulting services, Site Preparation and Installation guides and as-built documentation. Some of the general tasks could involve:

Advising on the optimal power and cooling solutions for a proposed system configuration at a given site.

Utilize DCF software tools to develop facilities requirements based on IT BOMs, Visios and configuration documents in determining requested facilities provisions from Colocation providers.

Reading the facility related requirements from a client and conveying any unusual requirements to the system solution architect that might impact the system design or configuration.

Writing the Facility section of a technical proposal describing the requirements to successfully integrate the system into the destination site and explaining how the proposed system will satisfy applicable requirements within the SOW.

Creating facilities site preparation guides.

Presenting site assessments and consulting on best practices.

Developing hardware installation guides for service technicians.

If included in a project SOW, and for all GreenLake w/Colocation projects, be on-site during hardware/rack standing-up to give direction, advice, solutions and final acceptance of hardware/rack deployment as being compliant to HPE and industry Standards and Best Practices.

On-site review final installation, edit deployment plans for as-built conditions and photograph hardware installation in detail and such things as FLIR camera reports.

Creating as-built drawings and other technical documentation.

Maintain records, knowledge and working information to deliver advice to HPE teams during a project’s lifetime (e.g.: GreenLake 5 year contract) for SLA issues and growth opportunities.

Required knowledge and skills

This position will support government accounts.  Therefore, due to federal export-control regulations, the selected candidate must hold U.S. citizenship, U.S. lawful permanent resident/Green Card status or otherwise have a category of refugee/asylee status enabling them to perform the role without requiring a license under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

Ideally already with some level of US federal clearance

Good working knowledge of 2D AutoCAD

Any other CAD software experience a plus

Intermediate Level working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat Pro

Working knowledge of Visio

Basic knowledge of data center design

Solid understanding of data center power and cooling systems

Solid understanding of redundant power and cooling methods in data center and computer systems

Solid understanding of IT hardware airflow management in a data center rack and a cage

Ability to perform basic power calculations

Ability to perform basic cooling calculations

Solid understanding of IT equipment environmental requirements and adverse impacts

Solid understanding of data center copper and fiber cabling systems to include minimal design for projects deployed in a Colocation cage

Growing understanding of computer system liquid cooling methods

Growing understanding of data center liquid cooling systems

Technical writing experience

Basic knowledge of working with SharePoint documents

Data center related certifications a plus but not a requirement, such as ANSI/BICSI certifications desired (DCDC, etc.)

Basic knowledge of CFD analysis a plus

Basic knowledge of DCIM applications a plus

Basic knowledge of data center operations a plus

Intermediate skills researching and utilizing information from HPE and industry Standards for both design and evaluation services

Organizational skills for designing and managing multiple projects

Solid ability to perform site surveys for the understanding of how to integrate a proposed computing system into a destination site

Solid ability to inspect the facility fit-up to ensure compliance with the site preparation guide

Ability to work with customer’s Designer of Record and engineering firms to compromise and resolve potential conflicts or obstructions

Strong presentation skills

USD Annual Salary: $98,000.00 - $225,500.00
