Technology Director - Front-End Experiences

A Day in the Life

As the Director of Front-End Experiences, you’ll lead the development and optimization of a world-class user experience for millions of online guests. Each day, you’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, UX design, and back-end development, to ensure seamless integration and alignment with business goals. You’ll oversee the performance of your team, focusing on building scalable, responsive, and high-performance user interfaces that deliver exceptional digital experiences.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership: Set the vision for front-end development, ensuring alignment with product and design teams, broader business goals and the eCommerce growth strategy.Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging innovation in front-end development tools, processes, and user experiences.Metrics & Reporting: Provide engineering metrics (DORA, performance, capacity etc) to inform decision making and strategic plans. Ensure reporting accurately reflects the state of delivery and escalations brought to senior leadership.Governance & Standards: Ensure adherence to coding standards, design principles, accessibility, and security best practices, maintaining consistency and quality across the front-end codebase.Financial Management: Budget utilization / resource statusVendor Management: Contract renewals, performance evaluationTeam Management: Lead a team of front-end engineers and managers, providing mentorship, conducting performance evaluations, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture.


Qualifications

Education & Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or related field (or equivalent work experience).10+ years of experience in front-end development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing front-end engineering teams.Proven experience working on large-scale, customer-facing eCommerce websites.Technical Expertise:Deep expertise in front-end technologies and modern front-end build tools (Webpack, Module Federation, etc.).Knowledge of API integration (RESTful, GraphQL) and working with headless CMS platforms.Strong understanding of responsive design, mobile-first development, and progressive enhancement techniques.Experience with performance optimization techniques like lazy loading, minification, and caching strategies.Familiarity with A/B testing and data-driven decision-making processes.Leadership & Strategy:Proven ability to set strategic direction, manage cross-functional teams, and deliver high-quality digital experiences.Demonstrated success in driving collaboration between development, product, UX, and design teams.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize competing projects in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation and Benefits Package lululemon’s compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from $182,000-$238,900 annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program and equity offerings, subject to program eligibility requirements.

In-person collaboration is important, and much of the role can be performed remotely. Work is performed onsite at least 3 days per week.
