Technology Innovation Intern – Conferences and Events

 

Position Summary

Position Summary The intern will explore, evaluate, and prototype advanced technologies to enhance the attendee experience and operational efficiency at scientific conferences and events. This hands-on role offers exposure to emerging technologies and their applications within a dynamic event environment. The intern will also gain insights into the intersection of science, technology, and audience engagement.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

1. Research and recommend cutting-edge technologies (e.g., AI, AR/VR, IoT) for attendee engagement, hybrid event
models, and operational improvements.
2. Develop prototypes or proof-of-concept models for technologies such as: Wi-Fi triangulation for attendee flow tracking. Real-time engagement measurement through facial expression analysis. Interactive mobile applications with live polling and gamification features.
3. Assess the feasibility and ethical considerations of proposed technologies, especially concerning privacy and accessibility.
4. Present findings and prototypes in a final poster session, demonstrating the potential impact of these technologies on the conference and events industry.

 

Education Requirements:
The Ideal candidate will be a recent graduate or pursing a Masters / PhD in majoring EE, Decision Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or related fields 

Required Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing a major in EE, Decision Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or related fields.

Pay Transparency: This role is based in our Washington, D.C. office. The following are the intended hourly rates for this part time/nonexempt role: Rising Junior-$23.00; Rising Senior-$24.00; Current Grad/PhD Student- $27.00.

Any actual offer of employment, reflecting the total compensation package and benefits, will be made in the sole discretion of ACS. ACS reserves the right to amend or modify its employment benefits and compensation structure at any time.

 

*This position will be primarily based in the Washington D.C. (or applicable) office. ACS employees work a hybrid work schedule, consisting of working onsite, two days per week. Schedule flexibility may be required for this role to support in-office activities. While always welcome to work in the office, employees may work the other three days of the week from a location of their choice.
