Purpose of the Position Develop deep understanding of the military optical sensing applications, with a focus on electro-optical Infrared (EO/IR) elements and assemblies Develop deep technical relationships with Defense Prime contractors, government labs and agencies, and other strategic customers. Selectively initiate collaborative efforts for those Provide relevant insights for internal Product Line Plans and Business Technology Strategy Recommend initiation of new technical programs Day-to-Day Responsibilities: Engage with EO/IR system experts through direct interactions in technical conferences and customer visits Author technical papers and promote Corning Advanced Optics - Aerospace & Defense capabilities in technical conferences/journals  Support commercial group with key account engagements, product line strategy & roadmaps Monitor EO/IR and optical remote sensing system design patent publications Required Education and Experience: PhD or master's degree in Optical Engineering, Optical Physics, or related discipline 10 years of experience in EO/IR system design Ability to establish trust and cooperation with Defense Prime Contractors Strong technical acumen  Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts  Executive presence and presentation skills  Ability to obtain security clearance Up to 30% travel required

The range for this position is  $141,789.00   -  $194,960.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
