The Technology Infrastructure Engineering and Operations Team engineers and supports all the foundational technology used across M&T Bank. We support two Data Centers, 15,000 Distributed platforms, 24 Mainframe Regions, a secure and reliable Network connecting all the technology across the bank footprint and process approximately 635,000 automated jobs per month. In addition to that foundational technology level, we own the operational support processes, monitoring and command center that provide a unified, well-managed technology response when issues arise. We deliver innovative, and compelling technology solutions, in partnership with our line of business CIOs, to enhance the internal customer experience that enables our business partners to deliver. Overview: Responsible for all activities related to successful planning, documenting, testing and implementing of all work completed by assigned technology operations/ and or support function team, whether requested by the client, internal to the department or resulting from a problem relating to an application. Ensures adherence to all department and technology standards and procedures, including documentation requirements. Primary Responsibilities:Three day 12.5 hour work days from 7pm – 7:30am. Includes HolidaysAttention to detailStrategic thinking with a focus on innovation and efficiencyAct as an escalation liaison between the staff and incident managementManage and oversee execution of project plans for any scope; ensure adherence to all Department and Technology standards and procedures, including all documentation requirements.Assign resources and monitor progress of all assignments; ensure completion of schedules.Responsible for short and long-term staffing planning.Manage application development and support testing efforts, technology infrastructure, project management and other technology domains. May review specifications, preparation and execution of testing; may assist in day-to-day efforts of staff on an exception basis. Serve as subject matter expert in assigned area of responsibility.Translate requirements to assist staff in preparing detailed specifications for system enhancements. Recommend designs based on business requirements. Identify issues and concerns.Serve as a client liaison to review priorities and manage the overall client queue. Build rapport within the organization. Communicate and develop a professional level of cooperation across the organization.Manage efficient operations and effectiveness of areas of responsibility. Recommend new technology, policies or processes to benefit the organization and improve deficiencies. Typically lead technical evaluations of vendor software.Ensure assigned team demonstrates a strong understanding of the business environment and needs within the area of responsibility. Understand technical, business and operational impacts of a project or problem.Responsible for the job growth and career development of assigned staff members by providing training plans, guidance and sharing knowledge.Contribute to the development of a cost center budget.Recommend and initiate new policies and procedures that improve performance and effectiveness of the Department.Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.Complete other related duties as assigned.Scope of Responsibilities:Oversees a team where the majority of employees are Mainframe Operators, Network Analysts, Business Systems Analysts, Scrum Masters, and/or other similar roles in Technology.Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:4-7Education and Experience Required:Strong leadership skillsTechnical expertise in mainframe technologiesA combined minimum of 7 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years’ technology or systems experience and 2 years leadership experienceProficiency with pertinent project management, word processing and spreadsheet applicationsExcellent problem-solving skills to assist in issue resolutionFamiliar with application development software and hardware platformsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsPrior experience driving project milestones and delivery datesPrior experience recommending and implementing system solutionsProven mentoring and leadership capabilities from a project management perspectiveEducation and Experience Preferred:Bachelor’s degreeMinimum of 8 years’ technology management or large program leadership experienceSubject matter expert in business with knowledge or experience utilizing application/system supportedMastered understanding of applications supported with an advanced knowledge of interfacing/integrated applicationsGood understanding of the Bank’s application frameworkPrior experience working in a team environment as well as autonomouslyMastered knowledge and focus of the entire system to work on projects outside of normal business-as-usual (BAU)Understanding of business(es) supported and its’ terminologyWe support our team members with generous benefits.
