Job OverviewKomatsu is seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Technology Support Engineer to join our team. This role is critical for ensuring the continuous operation and improvement of Komatsu machines, hardware, software, and other types of onboard electrical systems while recording and analyzing data accurately and reliably. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and improving all machine onboard systems such as telematics, payload systems, and object detection systems ensuring they meet the highest standards of precision, functionality, and accuracy.
Responsibilities This role will provide high value technical support to the Regional Sales team, Major Accounts, distributors and other Komatsu internal personnel through day-to-day support activities, technology solution training, and customer visits.This individual must have a high mechanical aptitude, be a self-starter, and eager to learn new technologies. The candidate must strive to become the technology controls subject matter expert across assigned product lines. They will train other individuals and create self-help tools to support the North American Region. Additionally, level 2 support of the Service Diagnostic Tool (SDT) is an important part of this role.
This individual must analyze failure and resolution data, present findings internally and to respective manufacturing plants. They lobby to quickly resolve hardware or software issues with the manufacturing plants as required. They will also work with manufacturing plants on “Kaizen” activities to improve overall product quality.
This individual will become the SME for payload systems for assigned products. This individual will also support the following: machine communication systems, troubleshooting and calibrating camera and object detection systems, proactive failure analysis systems, tele remote systems, as well as other emerging technologies. Qualifications
Position is based out of our Chicago North American Headquarters. Relocation may be considered for the right candidate.
The individual must be able to travel 20-30%, often to distributors or customers.
Minimum of a two-year Associates Degree required. Bachelor’s degree a plus.
Minimum of three to five years working experience with GPS technology. Experience with Topcon, Leica, Trimble a plus.
Construction, mining or agriculture industry related experience required.
Must have good oral and written communication skills and be able to effectively communicate cross functionally with in the Komatsu organization. Must be comfortable presenting to medium/large groups, both remote and in-person.
Basic hydraulic troubleshooting experience with a minimum of intermediate level electrical troubleshooting (CAN systems, PWM etc.) required.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Highly organized and efficient time management, especially relating to optimizing travel.
Strong ability to analyze complex technical situations, determine root cause, identify actions and lead resolution and implementation.

Hiring Range
At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $74,720 - $112,080 per annum. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
