The Director of Technology Vendor Management leads and optimizes our external technology vendor relationships, which encompass approximately 70 vendors and a total annual spend of ~$120M This key leadership role drives the organization’s strategy in managing external technology vendors, including contract labor, service delivery, and ~ $65M savings targets. The Director is responsible for managing vendor performance, negotiating favorable contracts, and ensuring alignment between technology providers and internal business objectives. Working closely with senior leaders across IT, Finance, and Program Management, this role ensures effective financial oversight, risk management, and the achievement of strategic technology goals. The Director possesses a deep understanding of technology procurement, vendor management, and cross-functional collaboration, with a proven track record of improving vendor partnerships and delivering exceptional value.

This position is remote/virtual which means the work can be completed from anywhere in the United States except Hawaii or United States Territories.

RESPONSIBILITIES  

Strategy Development & Execution: Develop, implement, and continuously refine the technology vendor management strategy to support the organization’s long-term goals and technology initiatives.

Vendor Selection & Evaluation: Lead efforts in identifying, evaluating, and selecting best-fit technology vendors to enhance product offerings, improve operational efficiencies, and support business objectives.

Contract Negotiation & Management: Negotiate contracts, service level agreements (SLAs), and pricing with technology vendors, ensuring favorable terms that align with business needs, minimize risks, and optimize cost efficiency.

Vendor Performance & Compliance: Regularly assess and monitor vendor performance to ensure compliance with agreed-upon SLAs, contractual obligations, and industry standards. Address any performance gaps or issues promptly, collaborating with vendors to ensure continuous improvement.

Relationship Management & Collaboration: Cultivate and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key technology vendors, fostering an environment of collaboration, innovation, and mutual success.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams across IT, product management, and finance to ensure vendor services and solutions meet business needs and align with company-wide technology strategies.

Market Research & Strategic Sourcing: Continuously monitor emerging technologies, market trends, and best practices in vendor management to drive strategic sourcing and informed decision-making.

Financial Oversight & Budgeting: Oversee vendor-related budgets, ensuring financial targets are met and costs are optimized. Provide regular reports on vendor performance and expenditures to senior leadership.

Regulatory & Compliance Adherence: Ensure that all vendor management processes comply with relevant regulatory requirements and internal compliance standards.

Benefits Realization & Roadmap: Define and communicate a clear roadmap for the realization of benefits from vendor partnerships, ensuring expectations are set and value is delivered.

Governance & Reporting: Establish and manage a governance process, including monthly meetings, performance tracking reports, and value stream-level progress reports, to monitor the success and value derived from vendor partnerships.

SLA & Commitment Tracking: Develop and track service level agreements with vendors, holding them accountable for delivering the right talent and services to meet organizational needs.

Vendor Performance Measurement: Design and implement vendor scorecards to evaluate vendor performance against defined metrics, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Risk Management & Mitigation: Proactively identify and manage potential risks in vendor relationships, ensuring mitigation strategies are in place to minimize disruptions or contract breaches.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Remote: This role is fully remote, and the associate is expected to perform assigned responsibilities from a home-based environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

7+ years of experience in technology contract labor management, vendor management, procurement, or IT sourcing roles, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership position.

Strong negotiation and contract management skills specific to technology services.

Proven experience in managing relationships with technology vendors and cross-functional teams.

Excellent communications skills and ability to present / influence senior leadership.

Strong analytical and leadership capability. 

Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and stake holders.

< 5% travel may be required at times.

Proven execution of large scale and complex projects

Advanced capabilities in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint)

Demonstrated strong analytical, process mindset, problem solving, and data acumen

Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment

Excellent time management and project management skills

Strong ability to work with both business and technology stakeholders

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or relevant certifications preferred.

  

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law.  The expected base rate for this role is between $110,000.00 and $180,000.00.

This role will also receive annual incentive plan bonus, incentive compensation of 30% above base salary, and long-term incentive program.​
