Description:POSITION PURPOSE

Responsible for the implementation, maintenance and operation of a telecommunications/network infrastructure.  Telephony responsibilities include assisting vendors in the implementation of new telephone systems, configuring desktop and wireless telephones, providing technical work direction to wiring contractors and/or Technician  Infrastructure, configuring automatic call distribution systems, troubleshooting telephony issues and contacting vendors as required, coordinating telephone system upgrades, and implementing new desktop or wireless telephones.  Network responsibilities include implementing and configuring new core/aggregation/access switches, routers and cable management systems, providing technical work direction to contractors and Technician Infrastructure, and troubleshooting network issues and escalating to vendors’ technical support as required.  Network responsibilities also include the operation of IP address management systems and network authentication systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSKnows, understands, incorporates and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices and decisions.Responsible for the implementation, maintenance and operation of network and telephony infrastructure systems.Works independently on assigned tasks and activities.Implements project tasks and activities proficiently, ensuring on-time project completions.Ensures that industry best practices and home office standards are met when infrastructure systems are implemented.Provides technical input to standards committees, and tests new systems prior to implementation as required.Provides input to the Manager Infrastructure on capital and operational budgets.Responds to applicable HEAT issues and escalates as necessary.Demonstrates safe work practices and attitudes, follows safety rules, works to prevent unsafe conditions and behaviors, and participates in organizational and departmental safety programs.Maintains positive working relationships with customers, management and peers in keeping with a service-oriented organization.Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws/regulations; the Trinity Health Integrity and Compliance Program and Code of Conduct; as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSAssociates degree, Bachelor’s degree preferred and a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of directly related experience with communications infrastructure (network/telephony) equipment and procedures or equivalent combination of education and experience.Considerable knowledge or three (3) to five (5) of network infrastructure and/or telephony infrastructure with general knowledge in the other.Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with end users, technical staff and vendors of differing professional levels and ability to succeed in an environment of competing priorities.Works well with others on project implementation teams.Effective and logical troubleshooting skills.Ability to meet deadlines and set prioritiesMust possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONSOperates in a typical office environment or in infrastructure equipment rooms such as telecommunications closets, server rooms, data centers, or telephone system centers. The areas are typically well-lit, temperature-controlled and generally free from hazards.  High voltages may be present, and caution is an expected behavior.Lifting of equipment up to 50 lbs.Hearing is needed for extensive telephone and in person communications. The environment in which the incumbent will work requires the ability to concentrate, meet deadlines, work on several projects at the same period and adapt to interruptions.
