TELECOMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST
Summary You will serve as a TELECOMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST in the C4I Directorate of Commander Submarine Force of PAC FLEET SUB FORCE OPS COMPONENT. Responsibilities You will support Pacific Fleet Submarine Communications Management and the administration of installed communications systems which span the Pacific and Indian Oceans. You will serve as the COMSUBPAC Senior Force Communications Technical Control Officer, Defense Information Systems Agency Node Site Coordinator, Navy Mission Planning Element Coordinator, and qualified Information Assurance Technician (IAT). You will oversee the operation and performance of over 100 RF communications circuits in support of Pacific Fleet Submarine Communications in a multitude of frequency ranges including landline and satellite communications. You will direct watch teams in the troubleshooting of circuit and equipment outages in support of National and Force Directives. Coordinate with multiple agencies and organizations in the troubleshooting of communications circuits. You will apply mastery knowledge of established Information Assurance (IA) security procedures and safeguards and comply with existing responsibilities of assignment. You will direct and manage the COMSUBPAC program to ensure operational efficiency of installed network nodes within the Headquarters. You will establish telecommunications policies, practices, procedures, and techniques for a number of locations or situations, which differ in kind and level of telecommunications, complexity, and local conditions or circumstances. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying expertise in telecommunications technology to manage (e.g., monitor, test, repair, replace/modify, maintain, secure, activate, operate) submarine communication architecture (e.g., Advanced Digital Network System (ADNS), Extremely High Frequency (EHF), Multi-Channel Access Protocol (MCAP)); and evaluating the interrelationships between telecommunications equipment (e.g., operating protocols and characteristics, network management systems, interconnectability, interoperability of equipment, switches, circuits, hardware, software).
