We are seeking an entry-level Telematics System Design Engineer to join our Farmington Hills, MI, team.
A Day in the Life:
Implement New Services: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and deploy new telematics services, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues related to telematics systems, ensuring high availability and performance.
Perform System-Level Feasibility Assessments: Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the viability and performance of telematics systems.
Align System Interfaces: Ensure seamless integration of interfaces between off-board cloud systems and on-board vehicle components.
Security and Compliance: Ensure telematics systems comply with industry standards and regulations, implementing security measures to protect data integrity and privacy.
Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with industry trends and technologies, proposing and implementing improvements to telematics systems and processes.
Who We’re Looking For:
Knowledge: Firm understanding of automotive technology and engineering practices with hands-on experience in the automotive industry.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in cloud platforms (e.g., Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure), telematics protocols, and data management. Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Adaptability: Adapting to changing technologies and working in a fast-paced environment.
Possession of a valid driver's license.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of professional-level engineering experience in automotive telematics or a related field.
Education:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a related field.
Preferred disciplines include Software Engineering, Computer Science, and Electrical Engineering.
Preferred Qualifications:
Understanding of Networking and Internet of Things (IoT): Knowledge of networking principles and IoT technologies.
Language Skills: Proficiency in Spanish.
Physical Requirements:
Travel:
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Up to 15% of domestic and international travel, including annual trips to Japan, may be required.
Overtime:
Willingness to work overtime as necessary to complete the job.
Frequent late evening meetings with Japan, occurring 1-2 times per week with occasional fluctuations.
