Telemetry Monitoring Tech - CLC ICU (Casual Appt., 19.99 hrs/wk, no benefits) **Webster, Texas, United States** Patient Care UTMB Health Requisition # 2405909 **_JOB SUMMARY:_** To provide specialized advanced technical skills in all technical aspects of the telemetry monitoring system. **_ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:_** + Operates and troubleshoots all functions of the telemetry monitoring system: o Admits, transfers, and discharges patient and enters all required information in telemetry monitoring system. o Adjusts alarms. o Reviews trends and alarms. o Cleans and maintains telemetry monitors/holders and accounts for monitor upon patient discharge. o Accounts for all monitors at the end of each assigned shift. o Orders monitoring supplies. o Obtains and documents rhythm strips per unit/department standards o Maintains log book on all monitored patients. + Provides precise continual surveillance and analysis of cardiac rhythms on electrocardiographic Central Station: o Interprets EKG rhythms. o Recognizes significant EKG events. o Communicates information to the responsible individual within an appropriate time frame. o Immediately reports significant or life threatening changes to a RN. + Participates in orienting and teaching of nursing staff, physicians and students as related to monitoring equipment. + Assists with maintenance of unit equipment. o Performs daily quality checks of freestanding cardio-defibrillators. + Maintains a safe environment: o Ensures that equipment has current electrical and maintenance inspections. o Reports all malfunctioning equipment. + Provides age appropriate interaction and care as indicated. + Uses aseptic techniques and infection control measures in performance of duties. + Recognizes patient care priorities, treatment plans, objectives, and potential crisis. + Respects and supports patient / family rights. + Practices positive guest and peer relations. + Participates in and supports quality improvement activities. + Demonstrates acceptable productivity and practices cost containment. + Functions as an interdependent and supportive team member. + Participates in and promotes the development of self and others. + Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure. **_REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:_** High school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of EMT – Paramedic program or graduation from related allied health sciences program or one (1) year related experience.
