Telemetry/Monitoring Tech - Per Diem Varied Shift - Mercy Hospitals

This is a per diem/casual position working a 12-hr shift varied schedule (generally 6am-6:30pm or 6pm-6:30am). Weekend flexibility preferred. Located at both Scripps Mercy San Diego (Hillcrest) Chula Vista.

What you'll do:

Responsible for monitoring patients on cardiac and/or SPO2 (continuous oxygen saturation) via telemetry equipment.This may include monitoring patients when transporting to and from procedures/units.Interprets cardiac rhythms/SPO2 and reports changes to the RN.Able to prioritize notification to the RN based on emergent patient care needs.Identifies and maintains integrity of the telemetry system and reports all malfunctions and needed adjustments.Responsible for printing telemetry strips and documenting per unit standards.May be responsible for placing patient on cardiac/SPO2 monitor, change batteries, and set up leads.May perform clerical and other duties as requested per unit standard.

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

Must successfully complete the Scripps Health EKG Examination during interview process.

Required Certification/Registration:

American Heart Association BLS for Health Care Providers

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:

Completion of formal telemetry training which may include; a class or online course, Electrocardiogram (EKG) or Arrhythmia Certification course or completion of a Paramedic, Cardio-Vascular, EMT, MD or RN program, or other cardiac related programs. 6 months of Cardiac Monitoring experience. Basic Arrhythmia Certification
