Position Summary:

The Telemetry Tech supports and utilizes the team concept in daily practice to maximize function of the unit, works with Department Head/RN to coordinate patient care activities, obtains, cleans and returns equipment and supplies, maintains medical records, performs unit secretary tasks generated by computerized order entry and performs the duties of the cardiac monitor tech to include: monitoring, running and documenting rhythm strips, reviewing memory banks, promptly alerting the nurse of patient rhythm changes, and assuring that monitors are watched by a qualified person at all times. Performs clerical and receptionist duties in accordance with the mission and values of CVMC. The Telemetry Tech may rotate to other departments and will perform only those duties for which he/she has demonstrated competencies. Performs duties in the care of Geriatric and Adult patients.


Education: High School Diploma or GED required.

Certifications: BLS is required. ACLS is strongly preferred. Telemetry Tech or EKG certification is strongly preferred.

Skills: Successful completion of a basic dysrhythmia course or demonstrated competency; excellent computer skills; demonstrated history of exceptional customer service; medical terminology; demonstrates good organization and problem solving skills; ability to interpret cardiac rhythms, heart rate and arrhythmias and communicate abnormalities to nurses and physicians; experience in health care, unit secretary and cardiac monitoring is preferred.
