$23.750 - $29.477 - $35.204The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.
What You Will Do
This position will be performing duties, set forth by the organization to support patient monitoring needs. This may include monitoring and interpreting patients' cardiac rhythms, monitoring continuous oxygen saturations and/or end tidal carbon dioxide monitoring and reporting life threatening arrhythmias, decreased levels of oxygen saturations or abnormal carbon dioxide levels to appropriate personnel. Communicates with patients and staff to ensure needs are met or refers to appropriate resources. Facilitates patient data management through accurate documentation and communication. Supports best use of resources in management of equipment, supplies, and other department resources.
Required QualificationsAHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED
Preferred QualificationsH.S. Diploma or Equivalent 1 Year experience as a telemetry technician in an acute care setting. Telemetry Certification - National Telemetry Association -PREFERRED
Essential Functions
Admissions, discharges and transfers
Expedites patient flow through communication of patient data pertinent to the A/D/T process.
Enters accurate disposition of patient requiring admission, transfer or discharge per unit time guidelines.
Maintains Central Telemetry Log per unit guidelines.
Assists team members in locating patient data information.
Gathers and organize patient telemetry rhythm data for processing by medical records.Arrhythmia Interpretation
Identifies and reports cardiac and respiratory monitoring assessment data fundamental to development and/or update of patient's plan of care.
Interprets EKG per competency (EKG Rhythms I & II).
Identification of changes and trends in cardiac rhythms per standards.
Communicates changes and trends in cardiac rhythms, O2 saturation and/or EtCO2 abnormal values to other staff per standards.
Maintains telemetry record per unit guidelines/competencies.
Identifies arrhythmias necessary for the nurse to download into electronic documentation systems to maintain an accurate rhythm history in the electronic record.
Places paper documentation into medical record upon discharge per unit standards.Customer Service and Teamwork
Responsive to customer needs through communication & coordination with members of the team.
Greets and makes welcome a variety of customers by the telephone and in person utilizing AIDET communication model.
Obtains information from visitors/callers, directs as appropriate or takes complete and accurate messages. Acts on requests for customer assistance.
Uses scripts as appropriate including answering phones, transferring calls and service recovery.
Answers calls within 4 rings ; transfer calls as indicated.
Responds to all inquiries with timeliness that promotes customer satisfaction.
Communicates and collaborates with interdisciplinary team regarding patient monitoring events including RNs, MDs and Providers.
Assists in directing others during crisis interventions (codes, disasters, etc.).Data entry and inquiry
Ensures accurate data entry into the central monitoring system.
Ensures patient is placed upon the monitor within 30 minutes of admission.
If applicable, verifies DNR status and accurately follows guidelines of care for DNR documentation.
Seeks clarification before completing data entry regarding resuscitation status.
Dates, times, and signs to confirm data entry per unit standards.Department efficiency and effectiveness
Maximizes operational efficiency through ensuring best use of resources.
Efficient in completing own work, organizing, prioritizing and delegating to support productive completion of work within unit time guidelines.
Orders supplies, forms and equipment, maintains stock per guidelines.
Manages unit equipment ensuring proper operation, obtaining supplies, troubleshooting and calling for maintenance as needed. (e.g. fax, copier, printer, phone systems, and other equipment supportive of completing clerical work).
Logs, assigns, and tracks, telemetry boxes and other portable equipment as designated by the organization.Central Monitoring Unit Management
Obtains accurate patient cardiac rhythm and respiratory values through set-up, troubleshooting, and operating cardiac monitoring system.
Views and prints and analyzes ECG per unit guidelines.
Sets alarms with parameters.
Review alarm histories (scan events and print events).
Assures pacemaker detection and capture.
Determines best view/lead for arrhythmia detection.
Prints trends of arrhythmias.
Print arrhythmias for the health care personnel to download into electronic documentation systems.
Measure rhythm strips with on screen calipers and print documents.Unit Safety
Consistently utilizes proper body mechanics and available support equipment to ensure staff's safety and avoidance of personal injury.
Enters work order to facilitate repair of equipment; reports urgent or unresolved equipment malfunction to the Biomed, Material Management, etc.
Reports personal injury within two hours after incident happened and follows reporting procedures.
Follows safety procedure required for equipment use.
Reports observed hazards and unsafe practice.
Complies with universal precautions and hospital infection control policies.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesMust demonstrate EKG competency.
