Position Title: Temporary APEX Festival Manager Requisition Number: 0206074337 Location New York City Position Type: Administrative Position Status: Temporary/Seasonal Department: Drama/Drama Theater Responsibilities: The College of Performing Arts at The New School is seeking a Production Manager to join its production team for the 2025 APEX Theatre Festival. Supervised by the Producer for Theater and Opera and Production Managers, the Production Manager will oversee and support productions, including but not limited to scheduling, budget management, staff management, and guiding & supporting students and related personnel throughout the preparation of the Festival and during the Performance.
The Production Manager is a compassionate and motivated administrator who prioritizes students and their experience at CoPA. They are a collaborator who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced, and highly team-oriented environment. The ideal candidate is an experienced production Manager with excellent verbal and written communication skills who can present complex information to students, faculty, and staff. They can lead and collaborate to ensure that productions are supported to achieve students’ learning and creative outcomes. They are thoughtful, analytical, and able to develop creative solutions to complex issues.
Formed in 2015, the College of Performing Arts draws together the Mannes School of Music, the School of Jazz and Contemporary Music, and the School of Drama. Students at the College of Performing Arts are actors, musicians, performers, writers, improvisers, creative technologists, entrepreneurs, composers, arts managers, and multidisciplinary artists. Students and faculty at the college collaborate with others across The New School in a wide array of disciplines, from the visual arts and fashion design to the social sciences, public policy, advocacy, and more. Responsibilities: Pre-Production: Scheduling: Collaborate with the Producer of Opera and Theatre, to create and manage the production schedule. Communications: Disseminate production calendar and production information to cast, and design teams. Coordination: Lead the various production meetings through the entirety of the process. Budget and Expenses: Expense Tracking: Keep track of production expenses and maintain records for budgeting purposes. Petty Cash: Manage petty cash for small, daily expenses on the set. Communication and Coordination: Serve as a central point of contact for all production-related inquiries and information. Updates: Keep the cast and crew informed about any changes to the schedule or production details. Inventory: Keep an inventory of equipment, props, and costumes used during production. Post-Production Support: Strike: Assist in the strike of the production, including returning rented equipment, processing paperwork, and closing out expenses. Archiving: Organize and maintain production records and files for future reference. Problem-Solving:Issue Resolution: Address day-to-day issues that may arise during production, finding solutions to keep the production on track. Documentation and Reporting: Tech Reports: Provide regular reports to the Production Manager or Producer on the status of production logistics and expenses specifically during tech. Records: Maintain records of all production-related documents, such as artist invoices, releases, and receipts. Support: Assist other members of the production team as needed, including the Director, Producer, cast, and crew.

Work Mode:Hybrid On-site and Remote. Some nights and weekends are required.
