The Department of CSD consists of a diverse faculty and clinical/technical staff serving both undergraduate and graduate students. The department offers a B.A. in Communication Sciences and Disorders, an M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology, an AuD in Audiology, and serves the community with its donations-based Speech-Language-Hearing Clinics. The CSD undergraduate and graduate programs offer courses in a lock-step sequence beginning in the fall quarter of each academic year.
This pool is utilized as needed to support departmental needs.
Total work hours will not exceed 1,050 hours in any consecutive 12-month period from the original date of hire.
About the PositionAs a member of an interdisciplinary team in Western Washington University’s Speech and Hearing Clinics, provides professional audiology services to individuals with communicative disabilities such as hearing loss or impairments, auditory processing, and aural rehabilitation. Develops habilitation or rehabilitation programs for individuals and monitors/evaluates their progress. Under general supervision, educate, prepare, and supervise audiology graduate students in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) in the evaluation and treatment of communication disorders, and in the development of related interpersonal and professional/technical skills. Provide direct services to patients, demonstrating clinical skills for undergraduate and graduate CSD students.
The position helps fulfill the mission of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders by providing the highest quality student-centered learning environment where undergraduate and graduate students develop the knowledge, clinical skills, and life-long learning skills to prepare them for professional careers and advanced study in speech-language pathology and audiology.
Required Qualifications
+ A master's degree in audiology;
+ a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA);
+ License to practice audiology and dispense hearing aids from the state of Washington;
+ And, two years of experience as an audiologist, including experience with both diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Clinical doctorate (AuD) degree in audiology;
+ Experience supervising graduate students;
+ Experience as a clinical educator at a university;
+ Experience which includes assessment of pediatric and other difficult to test patients, auditory processing disorder (APD) assessment, and intervention/treatment of patients diagnosed with APD. And, experience with pediatric aural habilitation.

Salary $44.49 - $59.84/hour depending on qualifications and experience

Bargaining Unit:This position is covered by a Public School Employees bargaining union. New employees are eligible for membership under the current collective bargaining agreement at 350 hours of employment.
