Temporary Commissioning Intern - Winter 2024
OVERVIEW Merrick & Company is seeking a Temporary Commissioning Intern to provide project support in the month of December at our Atlanta, GA office. Typical pay range for this position is $25.00 - $26.00 per hour. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. WHAT YOU'LL DO Perform assessments, and studies for all types of facilities/systems including the following: laboratories, nuclear spaces, hospitals, clean rooms. Generate commissioning plans; write commissioning specifications; develop commissioning installation checklists and functional test procedures; verify and validate commissioned systems controls and equipment; document commissioning process, develop final commissioning report, and develop systems manuals. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Must be working toward a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a (2) Year Technical Associates Degree from an accredited institution with practical commissioning, controls, or testing experience. Optional experience that will also be considered: Experience with HVAC controls systems and protocols (e.g. JCI, Siemens, ALC, BACnet, Modbus, etc) Experience with construction administration. Previous internship in commissioning. The client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship. Must have a valid driver's license, a good driving record, and be insurable under Merrick’s insurance carrier. Greater Atlanta area - local candidates only. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Have strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience coordinating with owners and contractors, as well as the ability to lead project meetings are necessary skills. Have the ability to generate accurate, detailed reports. Have the ability to read and understand building drawings, specifications, and submittals. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Physically mobile in and around construction sites and facilities Able to climb ladders Mobile crawling in and around mechanical space with piping and ductwork Ability to carry test instruments and equipment Lift 50 pounds The job requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.
