DIRECTOR, COMMERICIAL LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT (*TEMPORARY POSITION*)

Summary

The Temporary Director of Commercial Learning & Development (temp role) will be responsible for developing and executing training content, which will be designed to continually enhance the effectiveness and performance of Ionis’ Commercial field and field leadership teams. The ideal candidate will be a high-energy, detail-oriented, and self-motivated individual with a strong focus on client service and the ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs. This temp position will be based remotely with occasional work expected from our Boston, MA or Carlsbad, CA offices.

 

Responsibilities

Execute the Commercial L&D strategy and vision to inform the direction of the learning expectations across Ionis’ Commercial positions. Build and establish scalable and sustainable world class onboarding, new hire, and advanced training programs for cross-functional Commercial teams. Work cross functionally to create strategic partnerships with Sales and Marketing teams, Access, Medical, and other internal key stakeholders to ensure training programs and resources are in alignment with brand/company strategies and support achievement of objectives. Create content and curriculum for development of Sales and cross-functional Commercial employees, including collaboration with Sr. Leadership regarding Commercial employee development programs, customer engagement models, and developing and training for field coaching. Develop and manage the execution of core and role specific training curriculums to support the ongoing performance improvement for all Commercial employees. Lead and ensure product, therapeutic, and marketplace content is current, compliant, and relevant for multiple user groups, including Sales Representatives, Field Leaders, Access, and other Commercial teams. Upholds behaviors that are in alignment with Ionis’ Culture and Core Principles. Effectively manage training processes and vendor projects.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree; Master’s degree preferred 8+ years cross-functional pharmaceutical experience, preferably in Sales Training, Sales Leadership, and other Commercial roles Strong understanding of pharmaceutical sales and customer engagement models Knowledge of Learning Management Systems, e-Learning applications, and internet-based support tools Significant experience successfully working cross-functionally Strong executive presence and ability to communicate to all levels of the organization Exceptional communication, persuasion, and interpersonal skills Strong project management skills with proven track record of execution and results Demonstrated ability to motivate teams, foster collaborative environment, negotiate, and influence in a matrix environment, exercise tact and diplomacy in stressful situations Launch, specialty, and rare disease experience 20%-30% travel

The hourly pay scale for this position is $82.62 / hour to $108.65 / hour
