Purpose

This position provides editorial support to PIP authors by editing Practice drafts and data sheets for editorial consistency, correctness, grammar, and format at each stage of the publication process. ​

Responsibilities

Edit Practice drafts and data sheets for editorial consistency, correctness, grammar, and format for each stage of the publication process.

Coordinate and manage the publication process within the PIP Document Management System (DMS). Track and file documents from proposal to final publication. Communicate with team leaders and members, as needed, to maintain publishing progress, update CAD work, and provide member support.

Convert documents to publishing formats. Post published Practices to PIP and distributor websites, DMS, and PIP archive, to include pricing and abstract. Review practices as published on the PIP and distributor websites to verify accuracy and ensure links are working properly. Communicate errors to the Administrative Manager, as needed.

Assist with preparation for & attend quarterly team meetings and Annual Conference. Edit/proof presentations, as requested. Provide on-site meeting support to PIP Function Teams, Committees and PIP Staff, as assigned. Participate in in-person & virtual meetings for assigned Function Teams/Committees. Includes travel to/from meetings.

Perform other administrative duties, as assigned. Attend staff and other miscellaneous meetings.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of editing for publication experience. Fluency with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

Technical editing experience, specifically within an Engineering field. Fluency with Microsoft PowerPoint and/or SharePoint. Experience as a Lead on a Publication.

Hourly Rate

$25+ depending on qualifications.

Work Shift

PIP Staff are offered a flexible 9/80 work schedule. Employees work nine hours each day Monday-Thursday and eight hours every other Friday. Hours must be consistent each day between 7:30AM and 6:00PM (end time is one hour less on the worked Friday).

Employees are also able to work a straight Monday-Friday, eight hours each day between 7:30 AM and 6:00 PM. PIP Staff have a hybrid work schedule, with T/Th at WPR and M/W/F remote.

Training will be conducted in person 1-2 days each week.

Travel to Houston may be required quarterly for meetings with members. Quarterly Meetings span four days (Mon-Thu) each quarter and are typically held in March, May, August, and November.
