Job Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (10 hours per week) Temporary Education Project Assistant position for the Division of Extension and Engagement’s Family & Community Health Program at Oregon State University ( OSU ). This position is located in Salem, Oregon.
This part-time (.25 FTE ) temporary education project assistant is a member of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – Education ( SNAP -Ed) Program team. SNAP -Ed is a nutrition education program in Oregon State University ( OSU ) Division of Extension and Engagement’s Extension Family and Community Health ( FCH ) program affiliated with the College of Health ( COH ). The Project Assistant serves Marion, Polk and Yamhill Counties and is based at the Extension Marion office in Salem, Oregon.
The Project Assistant will support SNAP -Ed Farm to School projects and the implementation of the Growing Healthy Kids program in this unit. Growing Healthy Kids is a garden-themed nutrition-education curriculum for students in 2nd and 3rd grades developed at Oregon State University. Specifically, this temporary position will be responsible for packaging and delivering produce from a local farm to participating schools in Marion, Polk and Yamhill counties on a weekly basis for the duration of the project (primarily on Thursdays between 2pm-5pm and between 8am – 2pm on Fridays and Mondays).
This position will work under the supervision of the SNAP -Ed Managing Faculty member for Marion, Polk and Yamhill counties, and requires travel/driving to various sites throughout the three counties.

Key Responsibilities
95% – Growing Healthy Kids program assistance
+ Organize, package and deliver local produce to participating schools in Marion, Polk, and Yamhill counties. Travel/driving will be required.
+ Assist with answering general project questions and maintain record of produce delivery.
+ Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines for proper handling and care of produce.
+ Maintain good communication with SNAP -Ed managing faculty to ensure timely and convenient delivery of produce to local schools.
+ Engage community partners and community members in a respectful and culturally responsive manner.
5% – Other duties
+ Contribute to a safe and respectful working environments that is inclusive and welcoming.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, training, or experience sufficient to perform the duties required by the specific research, extension, or other educational project; AND Knowledge of spoken and written English sufficient to obtain, provide, or exchange information. This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule
+ Flexibility to be available to work on Mondays and Fridays, 8:00 am – 2:00 pm and on Thursdays, 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm for the duration of this temporary appointment.
