Temporary HR Specialist - Bilingual Spanish

POSITION PURPOSE                                                                             

The Temporary HR Specialist will support HR functions in our Operations/Manufacturing plant, focusing on administrative and key HR support activities. The primary responsibilities include payroll, leave of absence (LOA) and workers' compensation (WC) administration, HRIS systems management, onboarding, and new hire orientation. This role will provide bilingual support to English- and Spanish-speaking employees.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES 

This position reports to the HR Manager and works directly with all levels of employees, supervisors, and management staff at the NY Orangeburg and West Nyack facilities.

Staffing: Assist in the union staffing process, including job postings, and interactions with temporary staffing agencies for placements. Coordinate onboarding activities for new hires and facilitate new hire orientation. HR Data Support: Assist with gathering and organizing HR data for reporting purposes, including headcount and hours reports. Provide basic data summaries and ensure accurate distribution to the Production team. Opportunity to learn data analysis and identify trends over time. Onboarding and New Hire Orientation: Coordinate and assist with onboarding and orientation sessions for new hires to ensure a smooth transition into the organization. Payroll & HRIS Support: Assist with payroll data and time keeping adjustments, ensuring timely and accurate payroll submission, and updating HRIS systems as needed. Leave of Absence and Workers' Compensation: Assist with LOA and WC cases, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and company policies. Administrative Support: Provide day-to-day administrative and clerical support to the HRBP/HR Manager, including maintaining employee files and HR documentation. Bilingual Communication: Act as a liaison between English-speaking and Spanish-speaking employees, ensuring effective communication, translation, and understanding of policies, procedures, and company information.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

Strong understanding of payroll, LOA, and WC administration. Familiarity with HRIS systems Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite; highly skilled in Excel, including formulas, charts and pivot tables. Knowledge of Federal and State employment laws.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

5-8 years of progressive HR experience preferably in a plant/ manufacturing environment.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Bilingual – Fluency in both English and Spanish Required Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information. Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment. HR Certification (e.g. PHR, SHRM- CP) is a plus

SALARY

$25 - $35 per hour, based on education and experience
