Temporary Lab Technician
Job Purpose and Impact

The Quality Assurance Lab Technician I, will carry out and execute corporate food safety and quality programs by testing and recording results of quality testing, documenting deviations and taking any corrective actions under frequent guidance. In this role, you will perform and record monitoring activities, process verifications and audits and part take in any disposition conversations.

Key AccountabilitiesFeed quality and feed safety monitoring: during processing, at packaging, and in inventoryConduct routine physical inspection analysis to in-process and finished good samples dailyData entry and creation of data summaries and reportsPreparation of product quality reports and real time reporting Inspection and testing of incoming raw materials for ensuring appropriate specifications. Data entry into systemSafe operation of lab instrumentsMaintenance of QA storage areaConduct QA lab safety auditsEnsure company QA policies are followedProvide support during internal audits, third party audits, mock recalls and audit preparation of policies and proceduresInvestigate quality complaints as requiredSample collection and preparation  NIR analysis of in-coming commodities and finish feedsAssist in monitoring compliance with governmental regulations, with regard to feed productionAssistance with IMS (Integrated Management Systems) inspections/audits of commodity storage facilities, factory, warehouse, QA Lab, and groundsAssistance with R&D analyses, including NIR (Near-Infrared) instrument maintenanceInspection of complete feed products, which includes classification of their release or rejection statusOrganize, review and conclude extruder operator’s report, check list, batching reports, and feed inspection reportsEnsure product nutritional compliance based on monitoring of the reported production valuesOther QA/QC related functions, as and when requiredQualifications

Required Qualifications:

Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in CanadaCargill requires that employees be a minimum of 18 years oldAbility to understand and communicate in English(verbal/written)Basic computer skillsAbility to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 25lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting safely, with or without a reasonable accommodationAble to work in fast paced environment in lab and production plantB.Sc. in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Agriculture or Aquaculture. Also applicable: applied chemical technology Diploma, Food ScienceShould be available to work on weekends and on different shifts (if occasionally required)

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelors or Diploma in Biological or Chemical Sciences with Food, experience in feed, food and/or Aquaculture industryKnowledge of HACCP, WHMIS, ISO Systems, Quality Management Systems, and Workplace Inspections would be advantageous, but not initially required
