The International Center (IC) at Rowan University is seeking a part-time, temporary International Student Advisor. Reporting to the Director of International Student and Scholar Services, this is an ideal position for a recent graduate, someone who has experience with student affairs, and/or experience working with international students. Training will be provided for the successful candidate to carry out the F-1 visa duties of a Designated School Official (DSO). Per federal regulations, DSOs must be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents.
Issuing I-20 Form for New Admitted Students
Coordinates integration of student records using Slate, Banner, and Terra Dotta Works with International Admissions and the English Language Program (ELP) to prepare certificates of eligibility (I-20) for students to obtain F-1 visa Reissue I-20 Form for those who need to defer their start date or reapply for F-1 visa Track the status of pending I-20 Forms and coordinates and shares information with relevant campus unitsInternational Student Orientation and Cultural Events
Help coordinate International Student Onboarding (Orientation) and Pre-Arrival webinars Help coordinate cultural/social events on/off campus Assist international students with campus and cultural adjustmentCommunications and Outreach
Assist with monitoring the Rowan International Center e-mail and responding to e-mails appropriately Help develop the IC’s bi-weekly newsletter using Constant Contact Assist with making updates and enhancements to the IC’s website Support general communication and outreach effortsMinimum qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree U.S. citizenship or legal permanent residence Strong writing, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Excellent attention to detail Cross-cultural sensitivity Ability to work independently and as a member of a team Strong time management and organizational skills Ability to adapt to changing demands and prioritiesPreferred qualifications
Experience working within a higher education environment Familiarity with admissions, student affairs, and housing resources Familiarity with Banner and Slate Experience with communications and outreach using Constant Contact or a similar digital marketing platformHours
This temporary, part-time position is assigned no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week. Work is contracted annually to coincide with the fiscal year and is contingent upon budget appropriate.
