Reporting to the Chief Steam Engineer this position is responsible for testing and monitoring various boiler house equipment as an assistant shift engineer. Steam time for 4th or 3rd class will be provided. This is a temporary summer position.
Core functions:
Perform boiler, cooling tower, and effluent water testing each shift Advise changes to the process based on the water testing results Effective use of proper PPE required for the tasks Monitor Boilerhouse and cooling tower equipment and flows Trace steam, condensate, utility water, compressed air flows as part of assignments Prepare equipment for maintenance as required Observe equipment in or out of service as required for production or maintenance Observe and/or perform routine blowdowns Wash production areas as directed and scheduled each shift Adjust boiler room and cooling tower chemicals dosage as required Perform or assist with operational readings Perform housekeeping duties required as part of the Food Safety Programs Complete duties listed on cleaning schedule Assist with monthly and annual shutdown tasks Participate in the daily safety tool box talks Additional duties as required
Skill/Experience Requirements:
Currently enrolled in a 4th or 3rd Class Power Engineer Certification Program Mechanical aptitude Working outside in various climates Basic knowledge of PC applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook Excellent verbal and written communication skills
