Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant for NJMS- Center for Emerging & Re-emerging Pathogen. Under the direction and mentorship of Dr. Samantha Bell, Principal Investigator, the Temporary Research Assistant performs and assists with microbiology, cell biology, biochemistry, and molecular biology experiments exploring how intracellular bacterial pathogens evade host immune responses.

Among the key duties of this position are the following: Helps characterize the host response to M. tuberculosis infection. May perform cell biology, molecular biology, and biochemistry experiments, including molecular cloning, cell line generation/validation/maintenance, microscopy, protein interaction/ stability/localization studies, DNA/RNA/protein isolation/quantification, and bacterial infections. Assists in processing and analyzing samples from host/bacterial screens and infection studies. Manages and maintains lab supplies, stocks, equipment, inventories, and databases, and help evaluates and improves lab management practices as required. Assists with ordering lab supplies, provides Principal Investigator with purchase recommendations, and helps improve the cost effectiveness and environmental impact of lab operations.
