Temporary Research Assistant

Job Summary

The temporary research assistant will assist with preparing a manuscript examining the Everyday Discrimination Scale, its applications in relation to health and health-related behaviors, and ongoing practices regarding the operationalization of the measure. Working alongside Dr. Lawrence, the temporary assistant will assist with summarizing studies identified through a systematic review of the literature and contribute to manuscript preparation for publication. This position would be funded through the project completion – with a target date of July 2025.

Essential Functions

Summarizing literature from already-identified studies. Contributing to manuscript development. Meetings with research fellow (sometimes with Dr. Lawrence, if needed).

Required Qualifications

PhD student or hold an equivalent degree in medical sociology, social and behavioral sciences, epidemiology, social epidemiology, or related field. 0 - 1 year(s) of experience conducting systematic reviews and manuscript preparation.

Preferred Qualifications

Comfortability working in a team setting. Familiarity with research on racism and health. Experience with the Everyday Discrimination Scale. Experience with self-reported measures and evaluating their strengths and weaknesses.

This is a part-time temporary position classified as non-exempt.  The pay offered is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
