Perseverance: maintaining an unwavering commitment to our mission; embracing change, overcoming obstacles, and creating and recreating the path to achieve our goals Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant within the Amaro Research Lab at the Rutgers Cancer Institute.

Under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator, Dr. Christina Amaro, the Temporary Research Assistant will support lab research activities. Broadly, the Amaro Research Lab aims to improve psychosocial outcomes for youth and families, including siblings, impacted by pediatric cancer and sickle cell disease. The current research projects pertain to areas such as the following:

Building and testing a web-based single-session intervention (SSI) for adolescent siblings of youth with cancer. Engaging with youth and parents through a Community Advisory Board. Using mixed methods, such as surveys and qualitative interviews. Conducting systematic and scoping reviews related to psychosocial interventions to support wellbeing in youth and families.


The Temporary Research Assistant will engage in various research activities, including collecting, managing, and analyzing data. The Temporary Research Assistant may also perform other research tasks as directed, including drafting written reports for inclusion in manuscripts and grant proposals.

Among the key duties for this position are the following:

Works under direction of the Principal Investigator. Conducts qualitative data analyses under supervision of the Principal Investigator. Assists in recruitment, date collection, and data management. Possesses effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to publish scientific research papers and articles. Understands and adheres to Rutgers’ compliance standards as they appear in RBHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
