(http://cpw.state.co.us/) Description of Job Primary responsibility is to support the State Aquatic Nuisance Species Program through watercraft inspection & decontamination at locations throughout Southwest Colorado. Work will either be completed independently or in pairs to inspect boats launching and leaving reservoirs, with respect to invasive species such as zebra/quagga mussels. Provide public outreach on the aquatic invasive species topic by providing printed material to those visiting the bodies of water. The position will report directly to the Program Specialist for assignments. Boat inspection training will be provided. When assistance at field watercraft inspection and decontamination sites is not needed, the position will support the Program Specialist by performing a variety of tasks including: public outreach, sampling and monitoring, quality control assessment, inventory management, distribution of supplies (including trailered boats/power washer units) to field locations, and data entry. This position requires regular overnight travel and distance driving. Employee may be required to camp in rustic settings and must provide own camping equipment and gear when performing biological field work. Early morning, evening & weekend work required. Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights 1. Good driving record and ability to travel extensively with overnight stays is mandatory. 2. Knowledge of boat and trailer anatomy, ability to trailer boats/decontamination (power washer) units on highways and steep mountain roads. 3. Must be willing to be flexible with the weekday and weekend work schedule, as field work may be dictated by weather. 4. Experience with Microsoft Word applications required – Word, Excel, Access 5. Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) are required. 6. Excellent organization skills and attention to detail. PREFERRED EDUCATION: Bachelors Degree in Biological Sciences or higher education.
