This is a Temporary Material Handler position responsible to perform work for the substation construction group at the construction depot related to material receiving and deliveries.
Key AccountabilitiesPerform Civil Construction duties related to the maintenance and construction of electrical substations.
· Duties include carpentry work, masonry work, digging, installing and pouring concrete footings, digging and installing conduit and other civil maintenance and construction types of work assigned.
· Operate all types of excavation equipment and drive vehicles requiring a CDL license.
· All other duties properly assignable to an employee of this classification.
QualificationsMust be able to read and write English legibly.
· Experienced at operating most types of excavation equipment, i.d. backhoes, excavators, skidsteers, etc.
· Be physically able bodied and a safe and careful worker.
· Have previous civil construction experience or 4 years of trade school training such as carpentry or masonry.
· Work under adverse weather conditions during emergencies.
· Be available for scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
· Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
· May be required to handle substances considered hazardous under the U.S. Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Law or Massachusetts Right to Know Law.
Must be able to progress to 1st class utility worker.
· Must accept assignments anywhere within service territory.
· Become familiar with company standards and work methods.
· Obtain and retain any license or certificate required for this classification. (CDL, 40HR Hazwopper, and State Hoisting License 2A/1B)
