Tenure Track - Assistant Professor, Architecture

The Department of Architecture in the University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure track position teaching design studios at the rank of Assistant Professor of Architecture, beginning July 2025.
+ Strong Teaching Experience: A proven record of effective teaching and coordinating within core design studios, with the ability to inspire and mentor students at various levels.
+ Leadership Potential: Demonstrated leadership roles in prestigious institutions or professional organizations, showcasing the potential for significant contributions to departmental and institutional goals.
+ Critical Thinking Design Skills: Advanced design thinking abilities, including a capacity for innovative problem-solving and a thoughtful approach to design challenges.
+ Professional Growth Potential: Early-career achievements that indicate a trajectory toward becoming a leading design professional, with a commitment to advancing both their own practice and the field of architecture.
+ Engagement with Contemporary Issues: An understanding of contemporary design challenges and trends, including a capacity to integrate these into teaching and research.
The University of Pennsylvania educates in architecture at three levels: undergraduate, professional, and doctoral. Teaching in architectural design and related subjects may occur at any of these level. Design teaching may take the form of required or elective studios.
In addition to effectiveness in teaching, applicants must demonstrate a strong capacity for the production of professional and scholarly work, through a record of projects, exhibitions, and/or writings, disseminated in past publications. Equally important are plans for future practice, research, and publication.
Minimum qualifications include a professionally accredited Master’s degree in Architecture; PhD is welcome, but not required.
Applicants must submit a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a statement (commenting on research and teaching) and samples of design work and/or scholarship.
