Position Description
Primary Purpose:
This Terminal Manager position with Kinder Morgan Incorporated holds responsibility and oversight of marine liquid bulk terminal operations in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. The Terminal Manager is a business leader, risk manager, and an employee motivator. Position is responsible for all aspects of the terminal’s business including operations, maintenance, customer relationships, profit and loss, and budgeting. This position will manage operations supervisors, maintenance staff, customer service staff, accounting staff, and engineering support. The position will also work closely with the commercial and finance groups in meeting the objectives of the terminal. The position will coordinate with various agencies, local governing bodies, and third party service providers to meet business objectives.
The Perth Amboy Terminal houses 3.5 million barrels of petroleum and chemical storage for more than 25 contracted customers. It’s modes of operation include rail, truck, pipeline, and vessel. There are approximately 60 employees reporting up through the Terminal Manager.
Position Requirements
Responsibilities:
+ Manage and continue to develop supervisors to lead, train and develop bargaining unit employees for safe-handling of petrochemicals via Marine, Pipeline, Rail and Motor Carrier.
+ Ensure all terminal activities are conducted in a safe manner, environmentally compliant manner that maximizes customer satisfaction.
+ Identify and engage levers to meet budget targets and maintain operating margin.
+ Implement and oversee training programs for new and current employees
+ Participate in customer meetings and act as liaison between commercial department and customer in order to grow base business and secure new business.
+ Responsibility for financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting
+ Manage overtime and other operational costs.
+ Participate in negotiations with the collective bargaining unit
+ Prevent, investigate, and follow up with all incidents.
+ Foster growth and development of KM safety culture among all employees
+ Participate in and promote regional and/or corporate initiatives
+ Assist in the standardization, implementation and maintenance of standard operating procedures for terminal activities.
+ Direct the activities of maintenance, engineering and other terminal support teams
+ Continuously identify and implement more efficient ways to conduct business, maximizing revenue and driving down costs.
+ Respond to terminal activities as needed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
+ Perform other duties as directed or required
