RSI Leasing, recently acquired by Trinity Industries Inc, is currently hiring a Terminal Operator in our Charlotte, North Carolina Terminal.
The Terminal Operator’s primary responsibility is to safely and timely unload rail cars to trucks and storage, within the terminal facility. The Terminal Operator will understand, and follow, operating procedures and policies.
Full-time position, some overtime may be required, must be flexible.
What you'll do:
Operate rail car loading systems, including an articulated front-end loader.
Including: vehicles with manual transmission and yard tractor
Work outside in all weather conditions Read and write clearly and accurately fill out all required paperwork Enforce all safety policies and procedures with other employees and visitors Perform general maintenance on equipment, as necessary Assist with facility maintenance such as general maintenance, landscape upkeep, and painting, as needed Keep work area clean and organized Must not be afraid to ask questions Perform work safely and productively Work independently and in a team setting in a helpful and professional manner Interact with customers, railroad crews, and visitors, in a professional manner Performs all other duties as assignedWhat you'll need:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent A valid Driver's License Must be available for a full-time shift, M - F, and some weekends possible, generally 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM. Experience working outside in all weather conditions ((snow, rain, sub-freezing temps, etc) Minimum 1-2 years of experience handling bulk material, especially lumber material Experience driving and operating rail car loading systems, including an articulated front-end loaded, including: vehicles with manual transmission and yard tractor Willing to work with liquid hazardous & dry bulk materials, as needed Must have the ability to understand and follow operating procedures and policies Willingness in being cross-trained on all functions at the terminal facility Must possess a strong work ethic and the willingness to follow procedures Must be able to read, write, and understand English. Perform basic math skills. Light computer skills would be a plus. Capable of learning how to operate and maintain rail car and trans-loading equipment (hoses, portable conveyors, small to medium-sized equipment, etc.). Must have a willingness to learn new skills and be teachable. Physically able to climb up and down rail cars and ladders, safely for an extended period. Lift and carry fifty (50) pounds consistently. Walk one (1) to two (2) miles per shift.
