Terminal Operator
Summary:  

Under general supervision of Terminal Manager, the Terminal Operator is responsible for operating all Terminal equipment in connection with receiving, storing, transferring, and loading of refined petroleum products in a reliable and efficient manner while in compliance with the Partnership’s procedures and regulatory requirements.  Position subject to training and qualification job progression.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The essential job duties for this position are listed below:

Gauge storage tanks and take meter readings for all products on a daily basis Provide top-tier customer service to commercial and operations customer representatives Calculate and input all product inventories and meter readings into appropriate systems Perform daily and monthly reconciliation of product inventories and thru-puts Perform facility maintenance on office building, assets, vegetation, as needed Perform and support the safe loading of petroleum products onto trucks Proficient in Dock operations - secure vessels, execute transfer connections, receive products from barges. Vapor Combustion Unit - Perform routine PM and ability to take corrective action  Take product samples as required and perform/log required Quality control tests Perform and log all scheduled maintenance and compliance inspections Ensure that all terminal equipment is functioning properly and report failures to supervisor Perform daily walk around inspections to identify potential risks and ensure good housekeeping standards are maintained Issue work permits to contractors performing work at the Terminal. This includes ensuring that pre-job safety meetings, lockout - tag-out, confined space entry, and gas tech monitoring requirements are met for all work performed at the Terminal Correcting or stopping all unsafe acts or conditions not in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures by any party entering the facility Remain knowledgeable of, and prepared to enact and coordinate the Emergency Response activities until relieved by supervisor or management personnel Communicate product outages and equipment downtime to supervisor, customers, and other impacted parties in a prompt fashion

 

Required Education:

High school diploma or GED

Minimum Requirements: 

Effectively communicate with peers and management of various levels Self-starter able work with little or no supervision Carry a cell phone allowing for shift hold over or shift reassignment, as well as call out at all hours Able to use basic hand tools and operate basic product testing equipment Proficient in mathematics and able to perform all required calculations Proficient with Microsoft Suite Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and written Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license for state of residence Must have and Maintian a valid TWIC card or have the ability to acquire one Able to notice subtle Color differences in product samples Must be willing and able to work as a part of team, take direction from supervisor(s), prioritize work schedules, focus attention to details, and follow work rules Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level: Level C requires a minimum of 0 - 2 years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience Level B requires a minimum of 2 – 4 years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience Level A requires a minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience Working Conditions and Requirements:   The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.   Frequent exposure to heat, cold, and other adverse weather conditions Work in and around industrial and construction settings, which may include hazardous products, processes, materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment Frequent heavy lifting with and without assistance Work on and around equipment and facilities that require knowledge of and adherence to safe work procedures and practices   Subject to call-outs to respond to operational issues and emergencies after working hours, at night, and on weekends and holidays Reliable attendance at work  Equal Opportunity Employer/Minority/Female/Disabled/Veteran The nature and frequency of the above working conditions and requirements may vary depending on individual operational circumstances.  Where feasible, the Partnership will make reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities to enable them to perform the essential functions of the job.   DISCLAIMER:  The above statements, which are subject to change, are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job.
